Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation reroutes Middle East cargo via Khor Fakkan
Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation Adjusts GS2 Service Amidst Middle East Security Concerns
Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation has implemented revised operational procedures for its GS2 service to address heightened security risks in the Middle East, specifically in the vicinity of the Strait of Hormuz.
Service Adjustments:
While Sohar, Oman, will remain a scheduled port of call, vessels previously destined for other Middle East ports or India will now redirect their cargo discharge to Khor Fakkan Port. This strategic shift positions Khor Fakkan as a more secure and stable hub under the prevailing geopolitical climate.
Transshipment Procedures:
Cargo intended for markets within the Arabian Gulf will be managed through feeder vessel operations or alternative transshipment solutions originating from Khor Fakkan, ensuring continued delivery to final destinations.
Imposition of Additional Charges:
In light of the necessary rerouting, transshipment, and enhanced risk management protocols, Yang Ming will levy additional charges. These may encompass freight rate adjustments, transshipment fees, and insurance surcharges. All such costs will be governed by the terms stipulated in the relevant Bill of Lading.
Continuous Situational Assessment:
Yang Ming affirms its commitment to ongoing monitoring of the regional security landscape. The company will revert to its standard routing arrangements once prevailing safety conditions permit.
