Swire Shipping raises rates for multiple services

Swire Shipping is implementing General Rate Increases (GRIs) for cargo services to Townsville and Darwin in Australia, and Dili in Timor-Leste. These adjustments are attributed to persistent rises in operating expenses and escalating vessel charter rates.

The revised rates will take effect for cargo with a bill of lading date on or after June 25, 2026.

Specifically, shipments bound for Townsville, Australia, will incur a surcharge of USD 300 per 20-foot container and USD 600 per 40-foot container. Cargo destined for Darwin, Australia, will see an increase of USD 200 per 20-foot container and USD 400 per 40-foot container. For shipments to Dili, Timor-Leste, the GRI amounts to USD 150 per 20-foot container and USD 300 per 40-foot container.

These increases apply to cargo originating from all global locations destined for the specified ports.

Swire Shipping stated that these rate adjustments are essential to mitigate the impact of rising operating costs and charter rates, thereby ensuring the continued viability of its service network and port coverage.

The carrier also noted that shipments falling under the purview of the Federal Maritime Commission’s regulations will continue to adhere to the relevant notification requirements.
