MSC updates Asia–US East Coast services
MSC Enhances Asia–US East Coast Network with Service Adjustments
Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced significant adjustments to its Asia–US East Coast network, impacting the Empire, Amberjack, and Emerald services. These strategic changes are designed to bolster schedule reliability and operational efficiency, ultimately benefiting customers with improved transit times and more robust port coverage.
The primary objectives of these updates include mitigating congestion exposure, optimizing port calls, and shortening transit times on key trade routes.
Empire Service Modifications:
The Empire service will undergo the following changes:
* Qingdao will be removed from the rotation.
* Norfolk and Port Everglades will be added, replacing Jacksonville and Miami. MSC anticipates these adjustments will reduce congestion risks and lead to more predictable on-time arrivals.
The revised port sequence for the Empire service will be: Shanghai, Ningbo, Busan, New York, Baltimore, Norfolk, Port Everglades, Rodman, and returning to Shanghai. This enhanced service is scheduled to commence with voyage GE622E, with an estimated arrival in Shanghai on May 25, 2026.
Amberjack Service Enhancements:
The Amberjack service will see the following revisions:
* Qingdao will be introduced as the first port of loading, preceding Ningbo, Shanghai, and Busan.
* Yantian and Xiamen will be removed from the rotation.
* The US East Coast port call at Norfolk will be replaced by Jacksonville as the final discharge port.
The updated rotation for the Amberjack service will include: Qingdao, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, Manzanillo, Cartagena, Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville, Kingston, Busan, and returning to Qingdao. This updated service is set to begin with voyage 8E, with an expected arrival in Qingdao on May 20, 2026.
Emerald Service Updates:
For the Emerald service, the following changes will be implemented:
* Xiamen will replace Kaohsiung as the final port of loading in Asia. This adjustment will establish a direct connection from Xiamen to major US East Coast ports, including Charleston, Savannah, and New York.
The revised rotation for the Emerald service will feature: Singapore, Vung Tau, Haiphong, Yantian, Xiamen, Kingston, Charleston, Savannah, New York, Boston, and returning to Singapore. The service is slated to launch with voyage 16E, with an estimated arrival in Singapore on May 16, 2026.
Through these comprehensive network updates, MSC is committed to strengthening its transpacific offerings by ensuring greater schedule stability, expanding port reach, and providing more competitive transit times for its global customer base.
