Maersk restarts Red Sea transits amid vessel shortage

Maersk Line has resumed transiting its vessels through the Red Sea, marking a return after a three-month hiatus. This development occurs as the availability of shipping capacity remains critically low, leading to a significant surge in charter rates.

According to the container shipping consultancy Linerlytica, the vessels Santa Catarina Maersk (7,154 TEU) and Clementine Maersk (8,648 TEU) are the first belonging to the Danish operator to navigate the Bab el-Mandeb Strait since March 1st.
