Hapag-Lloyd adds PSS from Far East to Latin America and Caribbean
Hapag-Lloyd will implement a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for cargo originating from the Far East destined for the West Coast and East Coast of South America, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. This surcharge will be effective from June 15, 2026, and will remain in place until further notice. For shipments to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, the PSS will commence on June 29, 2026.
The surcharge applies to all container types, encompassing 20-foot and 40-foot dry containers, refrigerated containers, special equipment, and high-cube units.
The rates for the PSS are established at USD 500 per 20-foot container and USD 1,000 per 40-foot container.
