Cavotec secures shore power order for Southern California cruise terminal
Cavotec has announced a significant order valued at approximately €1.5 million to provide shore power equipment for the expansion of a cruise terminal in Southern California. This strategic investment will equip the terminal with advanced shore power systems, enabling cruise vessels to connect directly to the local electricity grid when docked.
The implementation of these systems will significantly reduce both emissions and noise pollution at the port by eliminating the necessity for onboard engines to operate during port stays. The contract encompasses Cavotec’s comprehensive shore power technologies, including PowerMove, PowerFeed, and PowerCover.
Cavotec anticipates delivering the equipment during the third quarter of 2027.
David Pagels, CEO of Cavotec, commented on the achievement: “This order underscores the strong confidence our customers place in our shore power technology and our proven capability to support substantial marine infrastructure projects. Having previously supplied shore power systems to this esteemed customer, we are thrilled to contribute to the next phase of this cruise terminal’s development.”
This latest contract reinforces Cavotec’s expanding footprint in the burgeoning shore power market. As ports worldwide increasingly prioritize investments in technologies that facilitate emission reduction and promote more sustainable maritime operations, Cavotec is well-positioned to meet this growing demand.
