Kuehne+Nagel has inaugurated a new 3,500 square meter Container Freight Station (CFS) in Mumbai, significantly enhancing its Sea Logistics capabilities in India and catering to the nation’s expanding trade volumes.

Strategically positioned near the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), India’s largest seaport, the new facility provides seamless access to a crucial maritime gateway. This prime location is designed to optimize cargo handling and expedite turnaround times for shipments.

The purpose-built CFS is engineered for operational scalability and offers a range of value-added logistics services. It adheres to rigorous safety and security protocols, incorporating comprehensive surveillance systems. Furthermore, the facility has achieved globally recognized certifications, including CTPAT, AEO, and ISO, underscoring its commitment to international standards.

Sustainability is a core consideration in the facility’s design. It features electric material-handling equipment and solar-powered lighting systems to minimize emissions and reduce its environmental footprint.

“Our new CFS empowers faster and more integrated operations,” stated Anish Kumar Jha, Managing Director for Kuehne+Nagel India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. “It enables our customers to manage shipments with enhanced efficiency today, while also preparing them for future logistics demands.”

Given that over 70% of India’s trade is conducted via sea, the demand for advanced port and logistics infrastructure continues its upward trajectory. This new facility positions Kuehne+Nagel to more effectively support India’s increasing significance in the global trade landscape.
