Höegh Autoliners Joins World Shipping Council, Bolstering Global Liner Representation
Höegh Autoliners has officially become a member of the World Shipping Council (WSC), significantly enhancing the organization’s representation of the global liner shipping industry, particularly within the crucial vehicle carrier segment.
“We are delighted to welcome Höegh Autoliners to the World Shipping Council,” stated Joe Kramek, President and CEO of the WSC. “Vehicle carriers play an indispensable role in liner shipping and international trade. Höegh Autoliners brings invaluable expertise that will be instrumental as we collaborate with policymakers on critical issues of safety, sustainability, and global regulation.”
Andreas Enger, CEO of Höegh Autoliners, emphasized that this membership underscores the company’s dedication to actively shaping effective global shipping policies. “With our Aurora Class newbuild program, we have made substantial investments to ensure a commercially viable and more sustainable future. As trade dynamics shift and operational environments grow increasingly complex, liner shipping necessitates globally harmonized policies. Membership in the WSC will enable us to work collaboratively with industry peers and policymakers to foster competitiveness, advance sustainability, and build resilient supply chains.”
Liner shipping is responsible for transporting approximately two-thirds of the value of global trade annually. The WSC, through its member companies, represents over 90% of global liner shipping capacity, encompassing container, vehicle carrier, and roll-on/roll-off services. The Council actively engages with governments and international organizations to champion safe, secure, and environmentally sustainable shipping practices worldwide.
