Hanseatic Global Terminals to invest in new container terminal in Brazil
Hanseatic Global Terminals will acquire a 50% stake in Imetame Logística Porto, a joint venture with Brazil’s Imetame Group, to jointly develop and operate the new Hanseatic Global Terminals Aracruz facility. Located in the state of Espírito Santo, this terminal is positioned to become a crucial transshipment hub and gateway port on Brazil’s east coast.
Operations are slated to commence by mid-2028, with the terminal designed to handle approximately 1.2 million TEU annually. It will feature a 750-meter quay length and a 17-meter water depth, enabling it to accommodate large container vessels. The facility will be equipped with modern cargo-handling technology.
This strategic investment by Hanseatic Global Terminals enhances its footprint in Latin America and addresses the region’s escalating capacity demands. The Aracruz terminal aims to provide cargo owners with a more direct and efficient connection to international shipping routes.
For Imetame Group, this partnership signifies a commitment to efficient terminal operations, job creation, and fostering economic growth within the region.
The transaction is contingent upon regulatory approvals, and financial details have not been disclosed.
