Batu Ampar North Pier consolidates operation under single port operator
Batu Ampar Container Terminal, a subsidiary of ICTSI, along with Interport and in cooperation with Batam Terminal Petikemas, is set to assume the role of single port operator for the North Pier of Batu Ampar Port, effective December 1, 2025. This transition will encompass all associated rights and responsibilities inherent in port operations.
This integrated operational structure is designed to elevate service standards, bolster operational efficiency, and enhance Batu Ampar Port’s standing as a competitive regional logistics hub. The official announcement of the single port operator implementation was made during an event on October 19, organized by Badan Pengusahaan Batam. This initiative signifies a significant stride toward modernizing port operations and optimizing logistics performance within Batam.
The North Pier is equipped with advanced facilities capable of handling substantial cargo volumes. It boasts an annual capacity of 900,000 TEUs and features a 1,032-meter berth. The pier’s operational assets include five quay cranes, twelve rubber-tired gantry cranes, and ten electric terminal trucks, with plans to expand the truck fleet to 25 units in the near future.
The adoption of the single port operator model is anticipated to yield substantial improvements, including increased operational efficiency, reduced vessel turnaround times, and an overall enhancement in the reliability of services provided at Batu Ampar Port.
