AD Ports Group has announced the signing of Heads of Terms with the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Opening Up of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This agreement outlines the framework for the development and operation of a new multipurpose terminal at Matadi Port.

The signing ceremony took place at the Presidential Court in Abu Dhabi, with H.E. Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications for the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, in attendance.

This preliminary agreement establishes a collaborative partnership between AD Ports Group and ONATRA SA. The objective is to explore opportunities to enhance Matadi Port’s operational efficiency and capacity, thereby supporting the Democratic Republic of Congo’s increasing trade volumes and facilitating more streamlined import and export processes.

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi highlighted the strategic importance of the Democratic Republic of Congo, noting its position as a key African nation with extensive regional connectivity due to its borders with nine other countries, making it a natural hub for trade.

This initiative aligns with AD Ports Group’s ongoing expansion across Africa, building upon its existing investments in ports, logistics, and maritime services in countries such as Egypt, Tanzania, Angola, and the Republic of the Congo. These ventures underscore the group’s commitment to fostering regional trade integration and contributing to long-term economic development.
