Hapag-Lloyd raises India and Bangladesh-Europe freight rates
Hapag-Lloyd has announced an increase in ocean tariff rates for shipments originating from India and Bangladesh, destined for Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Black Sea. These new rates will be effective for sailings commencing on or after August 1, 2026.
The carrier is implementing a base rate increase of US$2,000 per container across all affected trade lanes.
Specifically, for cargo originating from Ennore and Colombo, the revised base rates to Northern Europe will be US$4,693 for 20-foot dry containers and US$4,536 for 40-foot dry containers. For shipments to the Mediterranean and Black Sea, the new base rates will be US$4,778 for 20-foot dry containers and US$4,396 for 40-foot dry containers.
Cargo originating from Chittagong will also see adjustments. The new base rates to Northern Europe will be US$5,343 for 20-foot dry containers and US$5,036 for 40-foot dry containers. For shipments to the Mediterranean and Black Sea from Chittagong, the rates will be US$4,748 for 20-foot dry containers and US$4,646 for 40-foot dry containers.
These revised tariff levels will be applicable to all shipments with a sailing date on or after August 1, 2026.
