MSC shifts Ingwe hub call to Hambantota

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company is set to transition its northbound Sri Lankan hub call for the Far East–South Africa Ingwe service from Colombo to Hambantota, as reported by Alphaliner. This strategic port alteration will be complemented by an increase in service capacity, achieved through the addition of an extra vessel. Consequently, the Ingwe service will now deploy a total of twelve ships, with capacities ranging from 5,500 to 12,000 TEU.

The revised Ingwe rotation will encompass the following ports: Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen (Shekou), Singapore, Port Louis, Ngqura, Durban, Port Louis, Hambantota, Hong Kong, and Tianjin, before commencing its journey back to Qingdao.

These network adjustments are anticipated to enhance MSC’s operational agility along the Asia–South Africa trade lane and simultaneously bolster Hambantota’s significance within the carrier’s broader regional transshipment network.
