Port Houston appoints Director of State Government Relations

Port Houston is pleased to announce the appointment of Amy Rister as Director of State Government Relations. Ms. Rister brings over two decades of extensive experience in Texas legislative affairs and public policy to this vital role.

Most recently, Ms. Rister served as Committee Director for the Texas House Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs. Her previous senior leadership positions involved supporting various House committees and members, including oversight of critical transportation issues impacting Texas ports.

In her new capacity, Ms. Rister will spearhead Port Houston’s state government relations strategy. She will act as a principal liaison to state officials, collaborating with legislators, state agencies, and stakeholders to champion policies and investments that enhance the strength and efficiency of Texas’s maritime and freight transportation system.

Kerrick Henny, Port Houston’s Chief External Affairs Officer, emphasized Ms. Rister’s profound understanding of the Texas legislative process and her proven ability to cultivate effective working relationships across diverse and complex policy areas. Mr. Henny noted that her background in transportation and intergovernmental affairs is an invaluable asset for advocating the long-term competitiveness of the Port Houston region.
