MSC removes Tauranga from Wallaby service rotation

MSC removes Tauranga from Wallaby service rotation

MSC has revised the rotation of its Wallaby service, a key shipping route connecting the Far East with Australia and New Zealand. Following reports from Alphaliner, the port of Tauranga in New Zealand has been excluded from the service’s schedule.

Revised Port Sequence

The adjusted rotation prioritizes maintaining service to crucial hubs in China, Australia, and New Zealand. The new sequence is as follows:

* China: Shanghai – Ningbo
* Australia: Sydney – Melbourne
* New Zealand: Auckland – Bluff – Port Chalmers – Lyttelton – Napier – Wellington
* Australia (Return): Melbourne – Brisbane
* China (Return): Hong Kong – Shenzhen (Yantian) – Xiamen – Shanghai

Operational Impact

The removal of the Tauranga call streamlines MSC’s New Zealand coverage. Shippers who previously utilized Tauranga will now need to arrange for cargo to be handled through alternative ports within the revised rotation, such as Auckland or Napier, to ensure continuity of their supply chains between Northeast Asia and Oceania.
