Maersk updates ECS Surcharge from ECSA to Red Sea and Oman
A.P. Moller – Maersk has announced an adjustment to its Emergency Contingency Surcharge (ECS) applicable to shipments originating from East Coast South America and destined for the Middle East Red Sea region and Salalah, Oman. This revised surcharge will be implemented effective March 15, 2026, and will remain in effect until further notice on the X5LM trade lane.
Updated ECS Levels:
For shipments to Jeddah, King Abdullah Port, and Jordan, as well as Salalah, the adjusted ECS rates are as follows:
* USD 1,800 per 20’ dry container
* USD 3,000 per 40’/45’ dry container
Surcharges Under Review:
Maersk stated that surcharges are subject to regular review in light of the dynamic operating environment. The carrier reserves the right to adjust or extend these charges to additional trade lanes based on prevailing market conditions.
