CMA CGM announces PSS for East Africa and Maldives routes

CMA CGM Implements Peak Season Surcharges to Ensure Service Reliability on East Africa and Maldives Routes

CMA CGM has announced the introduction of new Peak Season Surcharges (PSS) designed to uphold the reliability of its shipping services on critical trade lanes connecting to East Africa and the Maldives. These surcharges are a proactive measure to manage increased demand and maintain operational efficiency.

Peak Season Surcharge: Asia to East Africa

Effective March 8, 2026, a PSS will be applied to all cargo transported from North East Asia and South East Asia to the following destinations:
* Kenya
* Tanzania
* Mozambique

The surcharge will be USD 400 per TEU for all types of cargo.

Peak Season Surcharge: Global Origins to Maldives

Commencing March 9, 2026, CMA CGM will also implement a PSS for shipments destined for the Maldives from all global origins. For shipments originating from the United States, its territories, Australia, and Latin America, this surcharge will take effect on April 10, 2026, in accordance with regulatory requirements.

The surcharge will be USD 300 per TEU for all types of cargo.

CMA CGM states that these measures are essential to support service consistency and optimize operational performance during periods of heightened shipping demand.
