High Court Upholds Government’s Decision to Lease Chittagong Port’s Largest Terminal to DP World
Dhaka, Bangladesh – On Thursday, an appellate court in Bangladesh issued a ruling that clears the path for the government to lease the Chittagong Port’s largest container terminal, the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT), to DP World, a prominent global port operator based in Dubai.
The High Court bench, presided over by Justice Zafar Ahmed, declared in its verdict that the government’s decision to transfer the operational rights of the NCT to DP World is lawful and can now move forward. This landmark decision allows the government to proceed with the lease agreement, which is expected to enhance the port’s operational efficiency and global connectivity.
