Sea Technology Floating Terminal receives DNV AiP
**Sweden’s Sea Technology Secures DNV Approval for Innovative Floating Terminal**
Sweden’s Sea Technology has achieved a significant milestone with its modular Sea Technology Floating Terminal (STFT) receiving Approval in Principle (AiP) from DNV, a leading classification society. This groundbreaking design is engineered to operate in deep waters, up to an impressive 1,000 meters.
The STFT boasts substantial dimensions, measuring approximately 600 to 700 meters in length and 360 meters in width, with a draft of 17 to 18 meters. This robust structure is designed to accommodate a high throughput, with the capacity to handle between 5 to 6 million TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units). Further enhancing its versatility, the terminal can be configured as a standalone facility or integrated as a Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro/Ro) operation.
This AiP from DNV signifies that the STFT design adheres to the rigorous classification standards required for maritime structures. This validation is a crucial step in advancing the development of next-generation deepwater port solutions, offering new possibilities for maritime logistics in challenging environments.
Sea Technology is committed to further refining the STFT concept. The company will continue its engineering and classification efforts, working in close collaboration with Meyer Floating Solutions to bring this innovative design to fruition.
